Arrangements are under way for the 2013 event.
The meeting of SCAS Council on January 5th accepted the bid placed by Surrey. Surrey have now put preparations under way.
The venue will be the University of Kingston Sports Ground, Old Kingston Road, TOLWORTH.
The scheduled date for the event is Sunday, 8th September 2013.
Intercounties Team
This event is the County Team Championship and following the successful bid by Kent in 2011 has been recombined into one major event as it was originally envisaged and organised. The event was split some few years ago as Counties were unable to offer venues of a suitable size. The two events had stagnated into two repetitive venues.
SCAS Council were impressed by the success of the Longbow test event in 2011 and have upgraded it to full Championship Status.
The County Teams involved are:-
Junior County Recurve Team
Junior County Compound Team
Senior County Longbow Team
Senior County Recurve Team
Senior County Compound Team.
Surrey have now proposed that a Junior Longbow Team be included in the schedule. This will be at the discretion of the competitng counties and the decision will be required by the the April Council Meeting so that counties can prepare their teams
The exact composition of the teams is set each year in consultation with the host (size of venue), the organiser and SCAS Council. The only stipulation is that all teams (EXCEPT the Junior Compound Team) shall contain at least one lady and one gentlemen..
The venue is open to a bid process from the counties within the SCAS. If you think that you would like to shoot at home any year then please contact your County Committee to make a bid to host the event. The date is fixed as the SECOND SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER.
Advice/Assistance is available so please contact the Organiser. SCAS Council would like to be able to select the venue at its January Meeting so that further organisation can be set in motion. The organisation is split between the Regional Organiser and the local organiser. Locally, the venue, equipment and work party are required and centrally the Region covers all other organisation and the cost.
